Councils' Environmental Health Officer administers the Public Health Act and regulations, promoting public health through the prevention of disease, environmental protection and the control of insanitary conditions.  Council investigates reports of public & environmental health concerns such as:

  • Offensive activities, emissions or odours
  • Insanitary conditions
  • Keeping of animals
  • Waste storage and disposal
  • Environmental pollution
  • Septic tank systems
  • Public swimming pools
  • Hairdressers, beauty therapists and skin penetration/tattooists
  • Premises with cooling towers
  • Notifiable disease investigations - food poisoning outbreaks
  • Headlice
