Adelaide Plains Council (APC) is excited to seek feedback from the community on the concept plans
for the once in a generation transformation of the Two Wells Main Street Public Realm Upgrade.


Following Council’s decision at its 27 January 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting to allocate $700,000
from the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme (DCP) Stage 2 funding injection to
the Two Wells Main Street Upgrade, Council engaged the services of leading urban design
consultant Jensen PLUS to prepare draft concept plans for this exciting initiative.


Jensen PLUS has worked collaboratively with the Council established Community Reference Group,
comprising of local business owners, residents and members of the community, to contribute a local
voice in refining the draft concept plans.


With unprecedented growth occurring at Two Wells (education hub, residential, employment and
commerce), Council understands that our public realm must adapt. With significant funding now
secured and additional funding applications currently in with Government for their consideration,
Council is intending to provide our community with a civic space to be proud of and to be a real
destination for residents, investment, pupils and tourists alike.


With a current completion deadline of 31 December 2020 set by the Federal Government for all
projects under the DCP Stage 2, it is essential that Council continue to maintain momentum in
progressing the Main Street Upgrade.


Council’s Mayor, Mark Wasley, expressed his appreciation for the grant funding, “On behalf of
Adelaide Plains Council and our community I wish to thank the Australian Government for their
consideration and approval of projects we submitted under the Drought Communities Programme
Round 2. To be able to progress these initiatives will be of great benefit to everyone in our region.”


A copy of the draft concept plans will be available for inspection on Council’s website
www.apc.sa.gov.au from Wednesday 6 May 2020.
