Australia Day

Australia Day Logo 2018

Australia Day is an opportunity for everyone to get together and celebrate as we embrace the opportunities that are available to us as a contemporary, diverse and democratic nation. It is a chance to reflect on what it means to be Australian, to celebrate all the things we love about Australia: the land, a sense of fair-go, lifestyle, democracy, the freedoms we enjoy but particularly our people.

The Adelaide Plains Council celebrates Australia Day with an open community breakfast held sequentially at three locations: Two Wells, Mallala and Dublin, with catering provided by local community organisations.

Presentations are made to the winners of the Citizen of the Year/Australia Day Awards, where individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the community are recognised.

It is a chance to welcome new citizens as they make the final step in becoming an Australian Citizen, and to celebrate our own Australian Citizenship as the bond which unites us all.
