About your bin collection

Your fortnightly bin collection is managed by Solo Resource Recovery.

Bin collection days

Bin collections happen on an allocated day every week, except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day when they are collected one day later. Each bin type is emptied fortnightly.

Collections occur on all public holidays except Christmas Day and New Years Day. Where a scheduled collection doesn’t occur due to a Public Holiday, all subsequent days in that week will also be delayed by one day.

Our bin collection calendar is updated each financial year.

Fortnightly bin collection is one strategy to divert more rubbish from landfill, and keep waste management costs low.

The types of bins you have, and the days they are emptied, is different depending on where you live.

Township – Residential Waste Collections

Residents living in the Townships area of Two Wells, Mallala and Dublin have access to a 3 bin system and waste collection service which is collected on a fortnightly basis.

As part of the waste collection service, each rateable and occupied residential property is supplied:

  • General waste bin 140L (red lid)
  • Recycling bin 240L (yellow lid)
  • Organics bin 240L (green lid)

Some properties located in Two Wells, Mallala and Dublin are not located in the Township area. Please contact Council if you are uncertain if your property is located in the Township area.

Non-Township – Residential Waste Collections

Residents living outside the Townships area of Two Wells, Mallala and Dublin may request access to a 2 bin system and waste collection service which is collected on a fortnightly basis.

As part of the waste collection service, rateable and occupied residential properties outside Township area are supplied:

  • General waste bin 240L (red lid)
  • Recycling bin 240L (yellow lid)

Residential waste collections will be offered as a kerbside collection where available or the provision of a collection point determined by Council’s waste contractor.

Where Council’s domestic waste collection service is not possible or considered impractical for Council’s waste collection contractor, or where access or egress is restricted limiting collection vehicles to safely provide collection, the user will need to obtain at their own cost, the services from a private waste collection contractor.

Follow these steps to make sure your bin can be emptied:

  • Put your bin (issued by Solo Resource Recovery) out the night before collection day
  • Face the lid opening towards the road
  • Space bins 1 metre apart
  • Make sure your bin weighs less than 50kg
  • Do not overfill or compact bin contents

Remove the bin from the kerbside within 24 hours of being emptied.

Sorting your rubbish into the right bin helps make sure that rubbish can be recycled, composted, or sent to landfill properly.
