Community Land Management Plans
As required under section 196 of the Local Government Act.
Land that has been designated as community land must have a community land management plan where the land is to be occupied under a lease or license; or where the land is specifically modified or adapted for the benefit or enjoyment of the community. A single management plan may cover multiple separate parcels of community land when similar management regimes and performance measures are applicable.
Council must prepare and adopt Community Land Management Plans for all community land.
The Community Land Management Plans group community land parcels into a hierarchy of 9 categories based on similar purposes, such as sportsgrounds, local parks, windbreaks reserves and natural bushland. The plans detail how Council will develop, manage and maintain the land held for the community’s use and enjoyment.
Council has Community Land Management Plans developed for public parks, reserves and other land under the Council’s care and control. These plans identify the purpose for which the land is held, the objectives of the management of the land and policies or proposals that may affect the land.
Northern Region Regional Public Health Plan
The Councils of Adelaide Plains, Barossa, Gawler, and Light Regional have collaborated to prepare their second Regional Public Health Plan to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the region. The plan is a legislative requirement of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011.
The new Barossa, Light and Lower Northern Region Regional Public Health Plan 2022-2027 identifies top regional public health challenges and three regional ‘lighthouse’ projects.
