Councillor Paton appointed as Deputy Mayor
At the Ordinary Council Meeting of 28 October 2024, Councillor David Paton was appointed Deputy Mayor for the period of 29 November 2024 to 29 November 2025.
Council’s recording of the meeting, including nomination and selection of the Deputy Mayor, can be viewed on Council’s website.
The Deputy Mayor provides crucial support to the Mayor, and Council, through strengthening leadership and stability and ensuring the continued operation of Council in the event the Mayor is absent. Operational duties of the Deputy Mayor can include the role of chair at meetings, attending civic functions and ceremonies and providing a voice for Council and the community.
I sincerely thank Cr Marcus Strudwicke for his years of diligence in the role of Deputy Mayor and as Acting Mayor in my absence. His wealth of knowledge of all things local government and of Councils’ workings has been of benefit to elected members and the community alike. I look forward to working closely with Cr David Paton as the new Deputy Mayor for Adelaide Plains Council
