Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2024 - 2025 released for community feedback

Published 7th June 2024

Adelaide Plains Council’s draft Annual Business Plan and Budget 2024/2025 is open for feedback from the community from Wednesday 12 June to 9am Tuesday 9 July 2024.

The budget focuses on meeting the wants and needs of a rapidly growing population whilst maintaining its vast asset base.

Key projects planned include:

  • $4.245 million in asset renewals, covering 39km of road resheeting and 13km of road resealing including roads in Korunye and Dublin.
  • $631,000 in new or upgraded assets, including footpaths, kerbing, street trees and a Lewiston Dog Park shelter.
  • A local business support program and community partnership funding.
  • Landscaping of the Two Wells Cemetery.

All Council services and programs will continue to be delivered, supported by an estimated $2.727 million in grant funding for roads, coastal conservation and libraries.

The draft budget proposes a 5.50% average rate increase—excluding any increases due to development growth—and a 2% increase for kerbside waste collection fees.

A proactive and focused approach has been taken for the next financial year to meet the wants and needs of a rapidly growing population, including people who have moved to a rural living lifestyle from suburbs or cities. Towns and settlements are going through a time of change like no other. The region has been identified by the State Government as one to see rapid urban growth, meaning facilities and infrastructure have to quickly grow from non-existent to a reality.

The draft business plan and budget has a continued focus on the delivery of Council’s capital program to ensure maintenance of a vast asset base.

Feedback from the community is important and people can comment on any part of the plan, including rates and charges, the capital works program, or proposed projects.

The full document can be viewed on Council’s website, or at the Council offices in Mallala or Two Wells.

The community can have their say by:

  • Making a verbal submission at the Special Council Meeting
    • 6pm to 7pm, Monday 8 July 2024

Consultation closes at 9am Tuesday 9 July 2024. Feedback will be presented to Council for consideration before the final business plan and budget is adopted.
