Two new Australian citizens welcomed to the Adelaide Plains community
Adelaide Plains Council has welcomed two new Australian citizens into the community at a ceremony held at the Two Wells Chamber.
Debbie, originally from New Zealand, and Sharon, originally from England, officially became Australian citizens on Thursday 20 June 2024.
The formal ceremony was hosted by Council’s Deputy Mayor Marcus Strudwicke and attended by Councillor Kay Boon.
The new citizens were gifted with a Golden Wattle seedling, the floral emblem for Australia, to mark this special occasion.
Citizenship represents a commitment to Australia and a formal membership of the Australian community. It is a common bond, involving reciprocal rights and obligations, uniting all Australians while respecting their diversity.
New citizens are conferred at Adelaide Plains Council up to four times a year.
