Councillor Paton re-appointed as Deputy Mayor

Councillor David Paton has been re-appointed to the role of Deputy Mayor, for the period from 30 November 2025 until the conclusion of the council term in November 2026.

Mayor Wasley said, “I look forward to the next 12 months working with David and congratulate him on his appointment”.

The Deputy Mayor provides crucial support to the Mayor and Council, through strengthening leadership and stability and ensuring the continued operation of Council in the event the Mayor is absent. Operational duties of the Deputy Mayor can include the role of chair at meetings, attending civic functions and ceremonies and providing a voice for Council and the community.

Councillor Paton was re-appointed at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 27 October. Council’s recording of the meeting, including nomination and selection of the Deputy Mayor, can be viewed on Council’s website.
