Councillor Parker appointed as Deputy Mayor

Councillor Brian Parker has been appointed as Deputy Mayor for the period of 20 May 2026 until the conclusion of the current council term in November 2026.

Mayor Mark Wasley said, “Council went through an election process to determine a Deputy Mayor for the remainder of this term of Council into November 2026. Cr Brian Parker was duly elected and I look forward to working with him in his role.”

The Deputy Mayor provides crucial support to the Mayor, and Council, through strengthening leadership and stability and ensuring the continued operation of Council in the event the Mayor is absent. Operational duties of the Deputy Mayor can include the role of chair at meetings, attending civic functions and ceremonies and providing a voice for Council and the community.
