Former Deputy Mayor David Paton’s election to state parliament and notice of casual vacancy

Published 17th April 2026

Adelaide Plains Council’s former Deputy Mayor, Mr David Paton, was declared the Member for Ngadjuri on 21 March 2026.

As a result of Mr Paton’s successful election to state parliament, there is a casual vacancy on Council. However, because the vacancy has occurred within 12 months of the next scheduled periodic local government election, a supplementary election will not be held.

Council thanks Mr David Paton for his dedication to Council and look forward to working together in the future as Council’s local member.
