Items Released From Confidence

Section 90 of the Local Government Act 1999 (the Act) provides that Council or a committee may order that the community be excluded from attendance at a meeting.

Council or a committee may also order that some or all of the documents associated with the item be kept confidential.

Council or a committee, when making an order, must specify the duration, the circumstances in which the order will cease to apply, or a period after which the order must be reviewed.

In accordance with section 91(9) of the Act, any order that operates for more than 12 months must be reviewed at least once every year. Council usually undertakes this review in October each year. Some items may be released outside of this review under CEO delegation.
